Bursting with cultures and entertainment, Montréal is the ideal city for learning French in an atmosphere of joie de vivre, without leaving North America!

Thanks to its communicative, interactive and collaborative approach, this program of the Université de Montréal will enable you to improve not only your knowledge and skills, but also the ease with which you express yourself in French. Through it, you will discover Montréal and its French-speaking culture, which is unique in North America.

In the company of students from around the world, you will have an unforgettable experience through the various courses, practical exercises, and activities and workshops in the French Immersion Summer School program.

Art and culture

Discover Mount Royal and take part in the Montreal International Jazz Festival

Indigenous cultures

Discover Indigenous cultures with an elder at the Indigenous Park of UdeM, visit the Botanical Garden, and the McCord Museum

The Environment

The environment takes center stage at the Rivière-des-Mille-Îles Park and the Biodôme, where you will have the opportunity to discover a great biodiversity.

Science and Technology

Explore the most prominent research areas at UdeM: exoplanets and the James Webb Telescope at the MIL Campus, in addition to a visit to the Planetarium.


The program of the French Immersion Summer School

  • Immersion in French, accessible to those 18 years of age or older ans lasting fou (4) weeks
  • Three different levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced ( A2, B1, B2 and C1 – Standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages);

    • 48 hours of courses;
    • 12 hours of conversation workshop;
    • 12 hours of sociocultural activities
    • 12 hours of optional activities (Some activities are optional and may require payment)

Registration and Program Cost

Program cost (without accommodation): CAD $1,595

The cost of the program, which lasts four weeks, includes:

  • Administration costs (non-refundable)
  • Placement test
  • Courses
  • Sociocultural activities
  • Workshops
  • Learning materials
  • Public transit map (bus and Métro)
  • Training certificate

Not included in this cost: travel to and from Montréal, meals, accommodation and optional activities.

Accomodation

Accommodation is not included in the cost of the program.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • 31 days before courses begin: the cost of the program is refundable, with the exception of the administration costs of CAD $150
  • 30 to 11 days before courses begin: 40% of the cost of the program is refundable
  • 10 days before courses begin: no refund

Any amount refundable in accordance with the cancellation policy will be refunded to the credit card in your file.

Request for refund for approved exceptional reasons

If you are unable to take part in your program for one of the reasons below, the costs of the program may be refunded, with the exception of the non-refundable administration costs of CAD $150, which will be deducted from the total.

To obtain an exceptional refund, you must provide relevant official documentation justifying the reason for your cancellation request.

  • In the event of serious illness: provide an official letter from a practicing physician
  • In the event of inability to obtain a visa: provide the official refusal letter
  • In the event that issuing of the visa is delayed: provide the official document explaining the delay and the date on which your visa application was submitted

You will also be entitled to a complete refund in the event that the program must be cancelled owing to a small number of registrations (a minimum of 12 students is required to form a group).
